CENTRAL BOARD OF SECONDARY EDUCATION

Curriculum Areas at Senior Secondary Level
For the purpose of fostering competences in learners, the curriculum encompasses seven major learning areas, which are: Languages, Humanities, Mathematics, Sciences, Skill Subjects, General Studies and Health and Physical Education. These areas are broadly divided into electives and compulsory areas as detailed below: -

Language 1

Hindi Elective or Hindi Core or English Elective or English Core

Language 2/Subject 2

Any one Language OR Any one Academic Elective

Subject 3; Subject 4;

Subject 5

Any three compulsory Electives from a pool of Academic and Skill subjects

Language 3/Subject 6

Any optional Elective from a pool of Languages, Academic and Skill subjects.

Health and Physical Education, Work Experience, General Studies
